Precious (108,312) by BFF from United States I highly recommend that you watch "Wisegirls" and "Tennessee" in addition to "Precious" if you haven't. The roles that Mariah took in those movies are much more substantial and grittier than the parts in "Precious" and "The Butler", and they really allowed her acting talent to shine through. That song "Right to Dream" from "Tennessee" is just incredible. I honestly think "Glitter" is worthy of reappraisal - I often wonder if substantial portions of the filmed scenes were cut out to get the PG-13 rating and to adjust for the fact that Tommy and J. Lo sabotaged the "Loverboy" single, which was an integral element of the movie's plot. They definitely had to add the new version of "Loverboy" in during post-production. To me, Mariah's almost "awkward" portrayal of Billie works well because it lends an honesty and authenticity to the insecurity Billie feels from being abandoned by her father and mother and how she feels as a mixed race person. You can tell that, like Mariah, Billie worries that the rug can be pulled out from under her at any moment. She worked with a very non-mainstream director (Vondie Curtis-Hall), whose only other film credit at the time was "Gridlock'd" with Tupac Shakur and Tim Roth. She made very non-mainstream choices for which music from the 80s to focus on (R&B and club scene rather than pop). It seemed like all of the elements were there for something great and interesting. But the filming delays, the last minute pivot to the "Rainbow" album, the sabotage of the soundtrack, the delayed releases, Mariah's mental health struggles. It all felt so unfair to Mariah, and she just kept getting hit with poison darts left and right from basically 1998 to 2001. The reviews for "Glitter" were bad, but I think hardly anyone saw it (including critics). The film is definitely better than "The Bodyguard" in my opinion. (Wednesday 5 March 2025; 15:20)

Frustrated lamb (108,168) by Shezz from Pk There had been a steady decline in her stage presence and her effort and enthusiasm in the last 10 years but I can't be the only one who noticed the sudden steep dip right after Tanaka left. Whatever their relationship was, she seemed happy and had that spark in her eyes every time he'd be on the stage with her. He kept her excited and happy in life and on the stage and he was the one if I remember correctly who directed the With You AMAs performance. He was her partner in life and on the stage and he made her happy. It was the same spark she had in her early years with Nick. Mariah I think is the type who needs stability and a partner to be excited about other things in her life and there's nothing wrong with it. It's one thing to get over such a relationship in your 20s and a whole other in your 50s. I hope she finds her happiness and her way again. (Tuesday 11 February 2025; 06:36)

His performance was horrible. It was something you would see Pepsi sponsor at a summer concert series. I agree with Randy. MC would have more engaging that what Kenderick Lamar gave us for 13 minutes. I am so sick of his beef with Drake. Lady Gaga or Beyonce will be the Superbowl half-time performer in 2026. I know it's a different time and context, but I had hoped Mariah would be at a similar vocal level now. The Grammys (108,111) by BFF from United States Grammys that Mariah was nominated for and should have won by the year: 1991 "Vision of Love" should have won for Record of the Year and Song of the Year. It's a better song and vocal performance than any of the others that nominated. 1996 "Daydream" should have won Best Pop Vocal Album. Joni Mitchell's "Turbulent Indigo" is not anywhere near Mitchell's best work, and "Daydream" is a better album. "One Sweet Day" should have won "Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals" and "Record of the Year". I loved Seal's "Kiss From a Rose", but it didn't need to win Song of the Year and Record of the Year. And why wasn't "One Sweet Day" nominated for "Song of the Year"? 2000 "When You Believe" should have won "Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals". "Smooth" by Santana and Rob Thomas did not need to win in this category. 2006 "We Belong Together" should have won Record of the Year and Song of the Year. The Grammys (108,106) by BFF from United States Beyoncé's music was decent at the beginning of her solo career up until the album "4". Particularly, "B'Day" had some good songs on it. Her recent albums often seem like they are written/produced by committees of tastemakers rather than organically produced as collaborations. And she just doesn't have deep, meaningful songs the way that Mariah and others do. It also feels wrong that Beyoncé has more Grammy Awards than Aretha Franklin. A bit harsh (108,092) by Jamie from UK Zack I appreciate your message and also your passion. But no one has been negative if anything we have shown our love for Mariah. We all too have passion hence why we are upset at what's is now. It doesn't come from a place of hate, it comes from a place inside us that only wants the best for her. There comes a time in life when you have to accept things have changed both in yourself and from those around you. It's not negative it's just reality unfortunately. And yes we are so blessed to have lived in the same time as such greatness, but in my opinion without being negative and yes we don't know what's going on in her life, that greatness of her live performances has past. Her voice is still here, obviously with some struggles, but it is still there. Regarding the stage presence - we don't know what is she going through or if she is just catching the momentum. Feeling sad watching her old videos? Come on, you should be happy for them and enjoy them. We were lucky to be alive in the same time as she was and be able to enjoy them and her talent. What do you think if 7 Aurelius and Dre and Vidal were the only producers on Charmbracelet? They could have really made Charmbracelet sell more copies and not been such a disjointed album in my opinion. I feel that Lyor Cohen gave MC some bad advice by telling her to choose Through the Rain as the first single. Charmbracelet was an great album, but it could have been better. Maybe it is just me. I read so many celebratory and love posts last year from all of us. Let's keep it going in 2025 to support each other around the world, those in L.A. and of course MC.
