Honey remixes (89,797)
by MusicfanJ from Germany
| |
|
|
Lately I'm a bit obsessed with Mariah's remixes. I rediscovered the Honey remixes and they are so good. Most people think of Mariah as the ballad queen and Christmas of course. I wish more would know about her uptempos and dance songs. But somehow it's also nice that only fans knows the true treasures.

I love the live version of "America the Beautiful" so much. And the reactions of the NBA players. Tough question, I'll try to choose: 1. Vision of love (until today unrivalled) 2. Without you (one of her best covers) 3. Fantasy (the ultimate Mariah song) 4. Hero (the message will always inspire people) 5. All I want for Christmas is you (MC is the queen of Christmas with no doubts) It's even harder to pick a live-version, maybe the SNL Can't Let Go version and Anytime You Need a Friend at Tokyo Dome. Bill your choices are great. The Dreamlover remix is one of my favs too. I'm going to listen to it now.

Lol the Prisoner rap. That's my tune too. How about Someday and Melt Away? I really love Mariah's set list on this tour. I need a tour DVD of it. It's time for a new one.

I just watched the videos. Cool surprise. But at the moment I'm totally blown away by "Endless love". Mariah is rocking Europe again.

Love to read all the reviews. Royal Albert Hall really must be so special. A tour DVD of it would be very welcomed. I also prefer a smaller venue for Mariah. So it's really perfect. I read that the one in Paris will also be a smaller venue and not a stadium. I wish I could go there or in Hamburg but this time I can't. Are any of you lambs going to see her on the next dates in Europe? I hope to read more of your experiences with the Caution tour.

All I want to say about this topic is that today I saw a picture with Madonna in our newspaper with the title: Zero points for Germany, but well we were better than Madonna. All were better. Lol I didn't read one positive thing about her "show". And I'm not suprised.

Bill I know what you mean. I discovered Mariah also by my own. It really made it special. So I'm sorry she's mine too. But I never thought if it until I read your post. It's really interesting to read how it all started and I think we as fans have a lot in common how our love for MC started.

The Daydream album/cassette. With this album everything started. My fandom for life. I still have it (the cassette) it's like a holy grail, I mean for music. When I first heard "Fantasy" on the radio I immediately bought the album. And I wanted to know everything about this beautiful woman and singer with a voice I never heard before. Later I realized that Mariah also sung "Without You". A song I loved back then on the radio when I was little.

I don't care if an older woman or man dresses like a teen or very young adult. They must feel comfortable. But one great thing is (if you're a grown-up) or getting older, you don't need to stress yourself with trends (like in highschool, for example). I like Madonna's Evita and the movie song. Plus Frozen. The 80ies songs on the radio are ok too. But I still don't like her pirate outfit and the over-sexualized videos. That's not because of her age. It just a matter of taste.

Yes, I know people who said the same. I think that was the time were the fans got divided and a lot of older "listeners" left. I was suprised by the Honey video too back then. But I loved it. Great video. Love the Bond girl style. Her look was sexy but still classy. That's the point, a singer should still look classy if she wants to be taken serious.
Madonna was always just shocking and "trendy". No one said: Oh what a voice she has. Lol. Simply entertaining, nothing more.

"Look at Diana Ross. She is just simply stunning at 75." Oh yes, must be wonderful genes plus a healthy lifestyle. She just looks beautiful. Madonna looks too harsh with all the muscles. Never liked that. Like the "Hung Up" video. What I like most is a classy style or casual and natural. Mariah is a natural beauty.

"Madonna reminded me of the old lady from the movie Studio 54 with Ryan Phillipe." Haha I remember the woman from the movie. Lol. I also think Madonna showed again that she's not a nice person. Bitter and envious.

Yes, the youngsters are so boring to watch. Bad entertainers and definitely no artists. I also think since 2010 it got worse and worse. Those "kids" will never understand that with talent you don't need to shock or copy. If I watch the charts I'm shocked about the songs. It almost sounds all the same. No heart, no real emotion on it. I wonder if the music biz will have another era of great singers like in the 80ies and 90ies. I don't think so.

I take Baldrian if it's needed. But I guess that's nothing that could help a singer. I think the same like Licia as long as Mariah knows what's not working and she really gives her best it makes her very human and "grown-up". But I also wonder if a superstar like Mariah can work a little bit on some things so that she does not need to be too nervous.

Mariah was very confident during the MSG concert in 96. That's how it looked. I do believe you can have stage fright at the beginning and still be confident after a few minutes. At MSG Mariah knew she was the best singer at that time. She knew she was on top and nobody could come close.

First of all congratulations to the one and only Miss Mariah Carey. She should have [gotten] that award way earlier, but hey she's got a complete room full with awards.
The best thing was her speech. Watched it three times and I will watch it again today. She was really nervous. Her speech showed a humble and lovely Mariah. The one I love since I became a fan during Daydream.
Taylor Swift looked like a little fan girl, loved that too. Monroe was sweet by applauding her mum. I'm so happy that Mariah dedicated her life to music. And I truly believe every word she said came from her heart. I love that Mariah said, we helped her through the hell (we all know what it was). We fans/lambs can be so proud of her. Love you MC.

That's true Nikki with the pushing of an artist and everything. But a management can push a song or an album as much as they want. If the quality is not good, normally it won't be successful very long. A song can be very successful without a lot of promotion if it has something the people want to hear. I'm 100 % sure that "One Sweet Day" would have been a number one with or without promotion for example. The same with "My All" and so on. I think what is most important is the right time and even some luck. At the right time to release good music will always be appreciate by a lot of people.

I understand what you mean with "street diva". But Mariah is clearly more diva than "street". That role playing seems to be fun for her. I don't know. For me Mariah is a classic diva, but a sweet one. I really do believe that inside her true self she's sometimes still "the Long Island girl".

"I'd love a jazz album or an album of standards or a stripped album with mostly piano guitar." Yes, I won't give up this dream. That album would be everything. She would "shine" with every song. Almost everybody can do a "modern" album today with all the computers. But to do a jazz record or piano one you need to be a real musician and have a "special voice". So it's perfect for the songbird supreme.

I know it's a fan favorite, it is one of mine. I love MIH so much. The album version, the live version (legendary) and the remix as well (the "bass-line" keeps me dancing). Do you think we will ever get a song like this? I miss a positive song like this from Mariah.
