About Randy from USA: MC is my favorite artist of all time and I love her songwriting skills on her introspective songs. My favorite album: Butterfly. My favorite song: Right To Dream.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (108,210) by Randy from USA
I voted and I asked my Facebook to vote and my gay Facebook group to vote. I guess I am a Stan. I think I'm pissed that all of her peers (Whitney, Janet, Madonna and Mary) are in and she's not. Down the road if Celine gets in before MC, it would mean some things about the industry's feelings about her that a lot of us aren't willing to face.

Mariah doesn't need no man (108,181) by Randy from USA
I don't think she was ever in love with Tommy. I think she was in love with Luis and she was in love with Nick. The rest are companionships. Her issue right now is what her issue has been since birth. Insecurity. It is hard being in the world eye when you are considered one of the best vocalists who have ever lived and are having problems with your voice. It is hard when you come out and meet your idols Aretha, Patti, Olivia Newton John and Diana. Now you are their age and the girls that are popular are on the charts and winning awards are Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo. MC hates touring but needs the money to keep the umbrella holder and her three homes. Tanaka may have been a comfort but he's not the reason she's in pieces. MCs real problem is that she is under pressure about vocal ability, aging and finances.

MC doing the Superbowl (108,167) by Randy from USA
Edward I dunno. I think the music is what the audience will respond to. That set list is killer. Put Mariah on a pedestal and let the set, dancers, lasers, pyrotechnics do the work. Again let me remind you. Emotions, Dreamlover, Fantasy, Always Be My Baby, Honey, Heartbreaker, It's Like That, Touch My Body and Obsessed. That's crazy and then to end it with Hero, We Belong Together. It's got massive sing along appeal. Sure we're tired of those songs but the general public would love it. And I think this would help undo some of the thaw her out November 1 mentality.

MC doing the Superbowl (108,156) by Randy from USA
Ok. After Kendrick Lamar we need to revisit MC doing the Superbowl. I'm not a Kendrick Lamar fan (not my generation) so I was bored but this proves now MC could really do the halftime show. She can lipsync her way through it, look gorgeous and do her sway to Emotions, Dreamlover, Fantasy, Always Be My Baby, Honey, Heartbreaker, It's Like That, Touch My Body and Obsessed with sick dancers and of course a thousand costume changes. And if she had to do slow songs she could do Hero, We Belong Together to close out. Tell me MC wouldn't have all of America rocking to that playlist. I got excited writing it. But as a fan my secret wish playlist would be Someday, Fantasy, Always Me My Baby, Honey, The Roof, Breakdown, Heartbreaker, Loverboy, Side Effects, You Don't Know What To Do and GTFO - close out with Anytime You Need A Friend, Right to Dream, Languishing and Never Forget You. Her catalogue is sick.

Last album (108,003) by Randy from USA
I always try to remember what Special K said to me once when I was going hard on Mariah's deception, "What what you have her do?" Honestly, at this point everyone likes documentaries. So, maybe something about the voice with a doctor telling her on camera, "If you keep on pushing this, you'll never sing again." And that being the catalyst for a change in her arrangements and her new sound. Don't address the past 28 years, which by the way there are tons of dissertations and dissections on MCs voice that I am now discovering on YouTube and RIP TikTok. Some of which are hours long. This board used to make me feel alone for my rants about the voice and now I realize, I'm not crazy. Other people knew what was going on all along since that fateful day on Oprah in 1997 when she lip synced all but the end of the song Butterfly. That was unlike anything we had ever seen MC do. But here's the time for Terna and LibraLamb to say I am a broken record or ranting. I know. I know. Don't address you if I wasn't sent for. MC doesn't need any label exec or manager to get her a hit. She needs an undeniable song and concept. I like Cher's Believe a lot. MC needs a song that everyone will like across all formats and we will have another hit. For as much as I have been hard on MC over the last 28 years, I acknowledge time, I know two things. #1 People generally like her even if they are laughing at her at times. #2 You never count her out.

Last album (107,990) by Randy from USA
Let me hop on in here for a minute. MC doesn't need to make a last album or stop touring. She needs to refashion her songs to unplugged versions with current everyday vocal ability. And record in current everyday vocal ability. You know, like she did with the three new tracks on #1s in 1998.

Number ones and ... number twos? (107,801) by Randy from USA
I've come out of hibernation to share some interesting chart statistics with you. If you kept reading the chart statistics from the most recent article, Billboard compiled the longest running number one and number two pairings.

13 weeks: No. 1, "All I Want for Christmas Is You," Mariah Carey / No. 2, "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," Brenda Lee (2019-24)

11 weeks: No. 1: "A Bar Song (Tipsy)," Shaboozey / No. 2, "I Had Some Help," Post Malone feat. Morgan Wallen (2024)

11 weeks: No. 1, "One Sweet Day," Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men / No. 2, "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)," Whitney Houston (1995-96)

10 weeks: No. 1, "Lose Yourself," Eminem / No. 2, "Work It," Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott* (2002-03)

9 weeks: No. 1, "Old Town Road," Lil Nas X feat. Billy Ray Cyrus / No. 2, "Bad Guy," Billie Eilish (2019)

9 weeks: No. 1, "Hello," Adele / No. 2, "Sorry," Justin Bieber (2015-16)

9 weeks: No. 1, "Macarena (Bayside Boys Mix)," Los Del Rio / No. 2, "I Love You Always Forever," Donna Lewis* (1996)

9 weeks: No. 1, "Physical," Olivia Newton-John / No. 2, "Waiting for a Girl Like You," Foreigner* (1981-82)

Ya'll know I am obsessed with number twos, Ms. Carey having four of her own Can't Let Go, Endless Love, Loverboy and Shake It Off.

I love that Whitney was able to do a week at number one and then eleven at number two as currently Exhale is my favorite song by her.

Back to my cave.

Christmas shows (107,629) by Randy from USA
You know what's weird? I saw some parts of the show where she was singing (same ol shtick-sing a slow intro then when the band comes in, the backtrack comes in). But she did have a twinkle in her eyes that wasn't there in Vegas.

Mariah's mom and sister died on the same day (107,265) by Randy from USA
Stop being so nasty all the time, especially since you're hiding. This may be complex so read slowly. Right now I think cutting people off is considered a flex. People brag about it. I understand doing it as a means to protect yourself. But it definitely shouldn't be done as a punishment or retaliation. Sometimes you must be the bigger person more than once because the other person is severely lacking. I am not criticizing MC for her handling of her abusive siblings. Hell, I would have cut Alison off too. But since I know MC through dozens of interviews, personal songs and a print memoir, I know she's a lot like me. We are both sensitive. And nothing knocks down the wall guarding a sensitive person more violently than regret. That is why people are hoping, not demanding, not forcing, her to have some sort of resolution with Morgan than involves some sort of regular communication.

Migrate (107,227) by Randy from USA
You know I'm on team Bye Bye so I could care less about a viral Migrate moment. I never knew it. Everyday of my life. I wish. I wish I wish I wish as time goes by. Wait. I have an idea. All great TikTokers that sing can sing that final ad-lib and get cute little kids to come out from behind them and wave bye bye to the camera and sing the backing parts. Now that's a viral moment.

Make It Fly Like a Bird (107,213) by Randy from USA
Mariah really loves Fly Like a Bird it seems. She performs it to a crescendo at many of her concerts. She's always loved Make It Happen for some reason or another, performing it at Divas 98 when she had a gazillion other songs to choose from. Neither one were massive hits but moreso as a fan, out of all her inspirational songs, neither of those do anything for me. I lump them with Hero. When I needed to get through my commute to work each morning after my supervisor promoted his side chick and a man's man over me in 2017, I remember playing Through The Rain every single morning to my eyes welling up. When I gained weight and had a friend tell me, "you should've known that would end your chances at a relationship, this is Atlanta," I played Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme) countless evenings while steaming broccoli and grilling chicken breast seasoned with thoughts of self-harm. Mariah has talked so bad about Through The Rain and blamed it for Charmbracelet failing. I mean, did Fly Like a Bird even chart? Make it Happen did make it to the top 5 but I swear neither of those songs do anything for me. While Through the Rain and Can't Take That Away are some of the first songs I would play to a non-Mariah person. You know, like an alien.

Meteorite (107,207) by Randy from USA
C thanks for the info. I heard it for the first time today in SoundCloud. It sounds like it's truer to the sample. Hers sounds more trippy/rave/trance like. I imagine doing illicit drugs in Studio 54 in the 70s to hers. His, if slowed up, sounds like TEOM fare. Here's the link if anyone's interested.

Revisiting MIAMTEC and Caution (107,197) by Randy from USA
Since nothing's coming out of Capri, I thought I'd tell you guys, I'm not being a loser. Excuse me, I'm between jobs, not unemployed. I was walking to the 7-11 and I listened to MIAMTEC intently. It's growing on me. Cry and Faded are as much about Nick Cannon as Butterfly and Side Effects are about Tommy. Each song on MIAMTEC is wildly different. Dedicated, #Beautiful, [You Don't Know What To Do] all sound different. Meteorite sounds like nothing she's ever done before. I still can't believe they chose You're Mine as the single. If they had took Wale off the intro acapella, You Don't Know What To Do would've been at least as big as Obsessed, if not bigger as a first single. But overall, it's not as bad as I originally reviewed. Now, Caution. If Rainbow was made in three months and feels rushed, Caution must've been recorded during a morning shower. The first four tracks are powerful and for such a short album that means over half the album is good. I think The Distance and One Mo Gen are stupid but the album as a whole is still growing on me. I will say Mariah doesn't create bad albums, she creates bad albums when compared to her best work. If Daydream and Butterfly are the diamonds of her collection, MIAMTEC and Caution are Walmart cubic zirconia but I'd still wear them proudly.

Much ado about nothing (107,168) by Randy from USA
Maybe she got emotional about the lyrics and what she's going through right now. Being stuffed in a size 6 gown, being scrutinized every syllable for lip syncing since she can't tell us what happened in 1997, being in the desert when she'd rather be poolside writing songs for other artists, since she doesn't wanna have to go the through promotion or the live performing that comes with recording her own music. That story was overblown and I can't believe I wasted the board's time digging into it. But thank you Robert.

Return to roots (107,132) by Randy from USA
She sings better than Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia, Celine Dion, Chante Moore, Kelly Price, Keke Wyatt, Rachelle Ferrell, Deborah Cox, Karen Clark? You mean right now? In 2024? I love you man, but did the batteries in your ears go dead?

The girl who lipped wolf (107,104) by Randy from USA
I don't have any sources or receipts but maybe these residencies are to pay current bills and she only does the shows she needs at the time. She's probably miserable so it's like, "Ok add 5 more dates to get us through until the Christmas shows then after we'll be fine till March." I'm not saying Mariah is broke, because she's not. I think she's doing this for the massive overhead it costs to live her present lifestyle. Mariah please carry your own umbrella and stay at the Red Roof. This is not worth the pain under the Botox. I kid. I kid.

The girl who lipped wolf (107,097) by Randy from USA
I just came to a disturbing realization. I'm literally arguing with another dear fan about what words she's lipping on the final two hooks of We Belong Together. And it dawned on me. This re-recording of different notes of climaxes and then copy and pasting it into live performances whereas she sings some words and not others is gonna cause people to believe even on a good vocal day, she's not singing. She needs to say something. Even if she's "resting her voice" but is being demanded to sing a lot she should say something. Because she has managed to squeak through GMA 2008, Rockefeller 2014 and NYE 2016. Note each of these disasters get worse. She should say something. Hmmmmm sounds like a good title for a song.

Mariah looks great (107,036) by Randy from USA
She looks sensational in those pictures with Olivia Rodriguez. I think still visuals is her new talent. Why worry with record labels, vocal training/rest and creating new music? You can stand still with a backdrop or stand still on stage and look pretty. People pay for that right? That's more important than being one of the greatest singers of all time. That would deflect attention from ability, right? To out-pretty Heidi Klum, Christie Brinkley, Tyra Banks, Cindy Crawford and Imán. Yea let's compete against them because it's easier than trying to sing anywhere near the level of Celine Dion, Toni Braxton, Chante Moore or Deborah Cox.

Mariah, Anita Baker and Lauryn Hill (107,021) by Randy from USA
I have to wonder what kind of financial status these artists are in because they clearly don't want to tour. Even Michael Jackson said he hated touring. But for Mariah, who looks stunning this go round, it's clear she doesn't want to sing. At least not outside of a studio. Nor does she want to be on stage. The acronym MC has turned into Model Checked-out. All rehearsals are hair, makeup and wardrobe. Now I know everyone says she's worth $250 million+ but that doesn't translate to cash on hand. And she has to pay for upkeep on the NYC apartment, the rental in LA, the stylist, hairdresser, makeup artist (whom I'm sure aren't allowed other clients). Does she own a jet or lease one? She's probably in need of money to keep up this lifestyle and should start stripping it down. She has 500 hours of beauty school. Do your own hair and make up. Stay in hotels when you have work in LA. Fly commercial first class. Hold your own umbrella. Anita was awful on tour and Lauryn is late to every show. I know they probably need money but MC, like what is the reason to keep this up? And don't say to be with your fans. She could do book signings, conference appearances and guest stints on The Talk or start lives on TikTok or Instagram if it was to be with us.

Mariah's been mum of late ... oh no please no (106,876) by Randy from USA
I realize MC has been silent. Then I realized this is Merry Christmas 30. Please no. I can't take any more promotion of that song. I can't take any more versions of that song. I can't take any more anecdotes about that song. Even the public makes jokes that it's overexposed. Longtime fans know when it's quiet she's working on something. I already feel she's narrowing her legacy to being a whistling Christmas act. Didn't we just get an anniversary edition with the nutcracker whistles? Oh no. The thought of an extra, extra festive AIWFCIY makes me wanna stop taking my lithium and date Charlie Sheen.

E=MC2 / Bye Bye (106,871) by Randy from USA
I wish you all would stop sniveling about E=MC2. Just kidding. But it does hurt me because I absolutely adore Bye Bye and you all treat it like it's in the same arena as Gangum [sic] Style. Mariah too. She recently said "they should've released Migrate, hello" but yet she performed Bye Bye on American Idol, Oprah and GMA. She was wit it. The lyric is relatable and her adlibs in the last section after the whistle makes everyone think they sing. I had my niece and nephew scream it to the top of their lungs and I would roll all the windows down and they would wave and sing to the cars Bye Bye. Bye bye bye bye bye bye. So from this day forth you all will let this regret about Bye Bye go. I have Right to Dream.

Specific lyric on Obsessed (106,860) by Randy from USA
Since it's kinda quiet, on the Gucci Mane version of Obsessed, probably the original version too, there is an adlib I cannot understand and it's bothered me for years. She says "He's all up in my George Foreman." Then there's some more singing and then she repeats "He's all up in my George Foreman." And she starts "But I-' I can't for the life of me figure out what she's saying. It's before she says "You like me. You like me. You really really like me" as the song fades. The lyric sites are saying, she is saying, "But I can't do nothing for him." That is not what she's saying. Anybody have any ideas?

May Céline inspire Mariah? (106,840) by Randy from USA
Mariah is a rebuilding project at this point. The first thing that has to go is the diva like antics. She has to drop the mermaid gowns. The obsession with lighting, hair and make up. Learn to play an instrument, like piano or guitar. She has been saying I'm a terrible piano player for how many years? Long enough to learn the same chords used in all of pop music. My real MCArchives family, listen to the instrumental of We Belong Together. It's four chords. I can play it. And I'm a terrible piano player. Toni Braxton plays piano. Madonna learned guitar. She has the money for a one on one teacher. Once she learns that, she can sit on stage and sing a new song followed by an unplugged version of one of her hits on a talk show. People will respect and love that.
