About Billy from Greece: I don't know, and neither do you.

Loverboy (103,139) by Billy from Greece
So, I was thinking about "Loverboy" this morning and watched a video combining the original visuals with the Firecracker version. When "The Rarities" was released in 2020 and I listened to the original (Firecracker) version for the first time I was ecstatic and I was immediately filled with a "coulda woulda shoulda" feeling of what this song could have become, not to mention the lost potential of the "Glitter" soundtrack or even the trajectory of Mariah's career thereafter. It screams smash hit. In a way, the skeleton of the song, namely the track, the key in which it is written, the way the vocals pop in the chorus, brought to my mind the "Heartbreaker (Remix)", which she has often referred to as her favorite version. It is just impeccably catchy and the fact that they ripped her off and sabotaged her so badly just shows that Mariah's musical instincts were so on point that everybody was paying attention. She was at the top of her game creatively. Anyway, as far as the "Candy" version is concerned, I was similarly obsessed with when it came out in 2001. I remember hearing the remix on the radio for the first time on a hot day in June while waiting in my mother's car. While the rap intro was going on I was like, wait, these sighs and "oohs" in the background sound familiar and then I was in shock. Is this the new single? Remember back then, it was usually by accident that you came across a new release. I couldn't wait to hear it again. Although it was chaotic in a way, I mostly associated exuberance, fun and sexiness with the song, which was then enhanced by the saturated colorful visuals. Even the single cover is gorgeous and a total classic in my opinion. I can understand why the song did not have a mass appeal in the form that it was eventually released, although it remains a favorite of mine. Technically speaking, the key in which "Loverboy" was rewritten buried the chorus and made all parts sound a bit cluttered. Actually, Cameo's "Candy" has quite an unconventional beat, which makes it a difficult sample in my opinion, although it's been widely used. Still, whatever the circumstances, I love "Loverboy" in all its forms and still enjoy it to the max.

Rainbow Interlude live (102,874) by Billy from Greece
I think she was saying "we might never reach the rainbow's end, but we're trying", something like that, basically improvising on the lyrics of Rainbow.

Rainbow Interlude live (102,871) by Billy from Greece
I so love this. Excellent development of the Rainbow interlude. I first thought it was a sample of an old song but kudos for this new dance mix.

Tina Turner (102,767) by Billy from Greece
RIP to a true legend, Tina Turner. Mariah was featured along with other artists in a segment before a late 90s live concert of Tina Turner and she spoke very highly of her. It was around the Rainbow era.

If you could... (102,152) by Billy from Greece
I would so love a 1998 album. I loved what was happening in music in general those years. And Mariah's new 1998 output through #1's (bonus tracks, remixes etc) is some of my favourite work of hers.

Charmbracelet - 20 years (101,726) by Billy from Greece
Wow, I can't believe it's been twenty years. Many memories around this album. In retrospect, I really enjoyed that time in Mariah's career. I'm going to give it a spin right now.

VH1 Divas 2000 (101,690) by Billy from Greece
Although no one can know for sure what really happened, it would be better if those who post "sources" check their credibility first. To have Mariah in 2000 say something along the lines of "someone
needs to tell that bitch she works for my husband" sounds not only farfetched but downright ridiculous. First of all, Mariah was already divorced from Tommy for two years by that point. I don't care if those who wrote this article worked in the production of the show. Each one has their own point of view and their own filtered style when documenting an event. And clearly, by inserting false information makes their claim even less valid.

Re: What MC albums have you never bought? (101,438) (101,441) by Billy from Greece
The Ballads has some nice pics from the 2008 Elle photoshoot, where the album cover also comes from. #1 to Infinity actually has nice liner notes as well as some rare pics, so I think that's more worth getting. You can also find videos of unboxing of these albums on YouTube so as to get a better picture.

Say what you want about Mariah being one way or another, but when I hear her radio interviews I get the same feeling I've always felt since I fell in love with her in the early 90s. So knowledgeable, a true musician. Really worth listening.

Mariah's recent output (100,971) by Billy from Greece
As I've been listening to Mariah's output of the past few years, among them "We Belong Together (Valentine's Mix Extended)", "Heroes/Hero/Joy to the World" and "Somewhat Loved", I have to say once more kudos to Mariah for her creativity. I love the vocals, the productions and they sound great as a whole as well. I also love this performance of "Can't Let Go" from 2019. Full of passion, elegance and musicality.

"Never Too Far/Hero" (100,969) by Billy from Greece
I was recently listening to my "Never Too Far/Hero" CD-single and I have to say that this medley, this performance in particular, does not get enough credit. Really heartfelt performance, understated yet powerful. I also love the cover art.
