About Mara from United States: I'm a Mariah fan since the debut. Been through her entire career with her and may not always agree with every single thing she does, But i will always come to her defense when she gets attacked for being misunderstood. I am not a blind fan and relate Mariah to a sister who I would tell in a minute if something seems wrong or something of that nature. I come to this board to discuss her with people who I feel are true fans and yes, some don't always praise her to the heavens every single moment but we all are here for the same reason and we do adore her.

Negativity (53,080) by Mara from United States
Ok so I've read through all the comments on all the websites, twitter, facebook and especially here. Most are praising Mariah for a fantastic opening night. All the review headlines read "She hit all the high notes." The GP see this as she is redeeming herself from the past year. Real fans that have followed Mariah know her Chantuse shows improved the further into them she got and her Christmas shows at the Beacon were pristine. I was there to hear for myself. Now I am a fan that agrees everyone has a right to their own opinion, but people come on. This is Vegas and as Mimi L stated before, everything should be on point in Vegas and therefore lipping is necessary, especially due to the frequency of shows and especially an artist of Mariah's calibur and catalog. It's not like she sings Katy Perry type songs and just stands there. M's catalog is beyond acrobatic and add in there 25 years later and it's silly to think there will not be lipping. Mariah Carey is a vocalist yes, but she is also Mariah Carey The Entertainer. And I for one am just happy to watch that live in front of my eyes. I am totally ok with backing tracks if I can see that living talent in the flesh. I don't know, am I alone here. I am never a negative lamb, but maybe some lambs are just never happy or satisfied? Can't we be happy she didn't just decide to walk away, raise her children and live on an island somewhere never to be heard of again? She certainly is more than capable to do that if she pleases.

B / Honey part II (52,564) by Mara from United States
I think you are exactly right. Didn't we see somewhere that Mariah was going to do some impressive stunts or be put in "dangerous" positions? Maybe her and Brett waited for her to arrive in Vegas to film because she may be using some of Vegas as her backdrop. I thought someone mentioned a helicopter and wasn't a helicopter used in Honey? I think that theme goes with the song lyrics and would be a bit therapeutic for her to use almost as an ending to "that chapter" of her life as well. Cannot wait for this video now. As far as the song, knowing she wrote it specifically for this residency makes more sense. Even the way the music stops at the ending and the way it begins back up with the violins. It is a show ending song. She knows what she is doing. I wish her luck and will pray her opening night, she kills it. She needs her fans to support her right now. But back to the video, they really need to release it yesterday to keep the momentum going.

Infinity (52,358) by Mara from United States
So I purchased the song late last night and had to put earbuds in to turn it up for first listen. Initial thoughts were, this is not what I expected and was different. I immediatly loved the violins but then I just couldn't understand what she was singing, there was a lot of production and it seemed to drown her voice out a bit not to mention how incredibly fast she sang. What seemed like the second verse was a bit clearer and you could hear her voice much better. Then we got to that note with dream, it sounded a little cut off but I think it fits. On to that amazing Music Box sound and the last note and the way it reintroduces the violins and I was hooked. All in all, I think with an amazing empowering video to go with this song, it will do well. I listened on repeat and did my test after I dropped my daughter off at school, made sure to turn it up in my car and it had that feel good sound. I really like it a lot now. I think it will get airplay and the controversy around the song especially since Mariah has kept so quiet on her marriage will help. The message is good too with the "loving me more and more" line. I hope Mariah makes another song someday without the fad lyrics, but for this one it works.

Feels like the calm before the storm (52,164) by Mara from United States
Getting so excited for Monday. I wonder if us on the east coast will have to wait until 9:30pm to hear the song and see the video. Everything has been under wraps so do we really know if the song will debut before her welcoming in Vegas? Maybe it will all unveil as part of the welcome and if that's the case, it is due to start around 6:30pm which means 9:30 for me. The anticipation is killing me. On to the debut album, it is such a classic. Her vocals on those songs were amazing. I too love Alone In Love. Someday always holds a special place to me too. Although VOL was her first hit, I think ultimately Someday turned Mariah into something else on the visual scale. I remember being in high school and all the guys were in love with Mariah and her beautiful eyes. Her image was set and very iconic in that video. I can't wait to hear her sing that and IDWC.

LC you took the words out of my mouth (51,792) by Mara from United States
I agree with you. I was somewhat disappointed at first, almost being selfish wanting those demos of something out of our Miss Mariah, but thought about it and realized this is almost brilliant. Imagine if Infinaty goes to #1? That is brilliant. I hope it does. I hope it is a killer song, a song for the summer to get us out of the winter blues (east coast anyway) and pump us up for this Vegas residency and yes, new era. The buzz is already different than the MIAM buildup. I forget who said it, but someone said we should be happy we are out of that era. It was a mess. This feels fresh and I am putting my faith in LA Reid. Those demos may still see the light of day as a fan gift. Maybe that is wishful thinking, but I do believe good things are to come. I think MC was holding on to this song knowing it would be what she needed for the general public, and how the MIAM album was more for the fans and a chronicle of the end of her marriage. Again, how amazing would it be if there were 18 #1's and then Infinity and it going to #1?

New album (51,705) by Mara from United States
Well we got the track listing and it's pretty much a no brainer, but no other surprises other than Infinity? No demos, duets, or even AIWFCIY? Well, she knows what she's doing, maybe there is more in the works. I just had to vent that I was a little disappointed. All in all I can't wait to hear the new song. Bring on April 27th.

Infinity (51,522) by Mara from United States
If indeed Infinity is the name of the new single, I love how Mariah gives us little hints. Could just be a coincidence, but in those photos of MC, the twins and Nick on Easter, Roc is wearing some part of Buzz Lightyear's gear. Buzz Lightyear is a character from Disney's Toy Story who always says "to infinity and beyond". Again, it could mean just that Roc loves him, which I'm sure he does. But it's just a cute observation. Infinity does have a nice ring to it and certainly lives up to what Mariah stands for in the music industry. Her music is timeless and will live on.

Andrew / promotion (51,469) by Mara from United States
I kind of agree. I mean the shows start May 6th? Shouldn't she be out there rehearsing in Vegas? It just makes me nervous because it almost feels like ok, if she isn't rehearsing then we are in for more of the same ol show we have seen many times before. I know MC is the voice and as long as she sings and is in good voice that is all the public will care about, but come on. It is still Vegas and I would hope she has a surprise or two we haven't seen yet. Maybe she will have enough time to rehearse and pull it off and put it all together. I feel your nervousness Abraham. She should be relocating soon if she wants a sharp show.

Nostalgia (51,458) by Mara from United States
I remember it was the summer of 1990 and my sister got the VOL single cassette. The first time I heard it, I stole the tape off her and that was it. She was amazing, exotic, vocal ability beyond anything on the radio. I was 14 and always was a singer and loved Whitney. Well when Mariah came out that was it. We both had the brown eyes and long curly hair and similar cheeks. When Emotions came out I remember coming home from the record store and going up to my room with my headphones so I could hear everything and reading along to all the lyrics. I did this with every MC album on its release date that followed. I would try to emulate all her looks, sing her songs. I feel like I grew up with her. All here songs related to something in my life, be it a boy I liked in high school, to getting ready to give up at something. She was always there. Whenever it was a Friday night, my ritual was take a shower and "do my hair and makeup" to a hot MC song. She would always get me going and had that feel good vibe. My friends could not enter my car when we would go driving around without having to listen to MC. Another memory I have is Daydream came out on a Tuesday October 3 and I was pregnant with my son and he was due October 4. I made my was down to the record store 9 months pregnant to buy it like I always did on release day so I could read the lyrics along while listening. My son was born the next day and the song When I Saw You just fit that moment. Butterfly came out in the fall as did a lot of MC's earlier albums. I remember always playing that while driving to hayrides or looking at the leaves changing colors. Butterfly always takes me back to that time. There are so many more memories with her other albums. I just love her, there is nobody like her. Her music helped me get through so much as all of us. My Saving Grace and FLAB helped me when my husband and I were told we couldn't have any kids together. I felt like giving up and breaking down, and we met a doctor that really helped us. Miracles happen and we have a daughter. MC's songs always comforted me and she always seemed to have one song off of every album that just fit my situation perfectly at that same time in my life.

Welcome new members / book deal (51,388) by Mara from United States
Welcome to the new members/first time posters. This is such a great group of people who are real fans, and to be able to stop here and actually have people you can talk to about MC that understand and agree with our admiration for her is wonderful. We have our moments but we still come here for the same reason and that is MC. OK, now onto the book. This just shows what kind of a person he is. This is still the mother of his children and tell me what child will want to be bothered with a father that publicly tries to sabotage and humiliate their mother. He is in turn hurting his children. I am just glad Mariah is away from him. She doesn't deserve this kind of person in her life. I know there are two sides to every story and I am not giving MC a pass or saying she was the perfect spouse, but nobody deserves a tell all book. He is a slime bucket if he does that and I think that will tarnish him. But at this point, even if it's not true, he still looks bad. He should publicly say it's not if it isn't, and if he doesn't deny or shoot it down, what does that say? We all know how emotional Mariah is and this must be killing her. She does not need this before her big shows. Seems like whenever something big is going on in her life, there is always some news involving this Thirsty child. It's happened too many times.

Happy Easter (51,386) by Mara from United States
I just wanted to take the time to wish MC and her two beautiful babies a happy Easter, along with all you guys. I always would look forward to Mariah's pics she would share with us of her children around the holidays. I hope she can take the time to just enjoy being the fabulous mother that she is and seeing their beautiful faces Easter Sunday. With all that is going on in her life right now it seems the personal pictures are a lot fewer, especially of the twins. Perhaps it's for legal reasons, or she just wants her privacy back. Who can blame her. But we all know how festive she is and I'm sure she will keep that going. Shelly welcome back.

A very happy happy anniversary Mariah (51,177) by Mara from United States
3/27 A very festive day indeed. We love you and the world was made a better place the day Patricia and Alfred brought you into it. How empty my years would have been without your musical talent to narrarate it. HBD MC.

Lady in black (51,128) by Mara from United States
Don't mean to be on a "tangent" here but I noticed that the "lady in black" appears to be with MC as she dined with Brett Ratner and Courtney Love the other night. Just an observation and I'm not feeding into any crazy accusations, just wondering about her. I can't help but feel after following this woman since I was 15 years old a little protective of our beloved MC. And I haven't noticed her before the sign on twitch Epic.

I forgot to add that all of those remixes you guys listed were the exact same that I have on my playlist too. Just seems to add to the fact that us faithful Mariah fans really know her gems and miss that.

Late Late Show (51,126) by Mara from United States
Mariah is going to be on the Late Late Show on CBS tonight. Hopefully this is the start of promotion for her Vegas shows and new album. As far as All I've Ever Wanted, I've always loved that song too as well as Pure Imagination. Isn't it funny how all of us lambs/fans that really know and love MC the way we do, feel very similar in what we adore from her catalog? I just love this woman and am so grateful to have this board and group of people who I can share my adoration for this talented lady that I have grown to feel is like family to me. I hope she is like the phoenix and rises from the ashes and leaves all this behind. Baby I am giving you a shout out since I am agreeing with a lot of your posts the past few days. RJ you are right as far as Brat rapping what MC wanted to say. I always noticed that too. It seemed like she literally spoke for MC lol. I could only imagine the lines she would have bottled up for the past year. Shelly we miss you.

The Truth (51,000) by Mara from United States
Do you think this woman works for Sony? I know there is evil in this industry. I have never seen this woman around MC before and yes, she does tend to associate with the same circle. What are your thoughts?

Shelly (50,987) by Mara from United States
Just wanted to say I hope everything is alright and you will be missed here as I always enjoy reading what you have to say and always tend to agree with your posts. We have a lot of the same thoughts on Mariah. Take whatever time you need, I for one know what you mean about being on here too much. I have been doing a lot of that lately as well and sometimes you do just need a "break" from it all. Would def love to meet up over a Christmas show if you and some other MCA people are interested. That would be something to look forward to. But take care for now and know even though I don't post everyday, I never miss a day here and this board feels like family to me so be well and look forward to hearing from you again.

Vegas (50,811) by Mara from United States
Well just thought I would join in on all the love posted on this board today. Speaking of Mariah changing things up for Vegas, we know Big Jim is involved since he posted on twitter, also her dancers from the Elusive Chantuse Show are still involved, per their twitter page as well. Now I am hoping whoever is choreographing her Vegas show can bring out something more from these dancers than what we saw on TECS. I am not saying anything bad about them, they can only work with what people tell them to do, but we all know her last tour left a little to be imagined. I only hope they change things up and make things look more "higher budget" and more showtime Vegas like and not more of the same ol same ole. Anyhow, speaking of old posters on here, whatever happened to Stephen? Stephen if you still lurke here, some of us miss your posts. Come back, as no matter what you were a real fan of Mariah too. Lastly, people have mentioned if MC continues her Christmas shows, how fun would it be to have a full MCArchives meet up in NYC in December? I would be in.

MCArchives (50,521) by Mara from United States
I just want to say I honestly don't know what I would do without this group of people or this board. We may all not agree and we may have different views as far as Mariah, but we all can agree that we have passion for her and that is why we are here. There is not a day that I don't take time out of my day to check my MCArchives message board. You guys are all like family and there is nowhere else I can freely voice my opinion on a woman I consider a family member since 1990. Lee, I loved your posts as well as Jon's. Adam, I said these Vegas shows remind me of MJ's This Is It shows when I first heard she was doing them. I do think they are very similar as far as what the general public is going to look to MC to pull off. Marissa, your post nailed it. Those of us that lived through the MC that could do no wrong or the MC that ruled the charts are simply not used to this Mariah or this current state of music, whichever it is. It really is taking adjustment to Mariah not being on top. All I can say is she has done it before and with all that has been going on in her life, it should be more than enough ammunition to stop, regroup and remind people. I love this woman so much and feel like she is a sister who went through everything since 14 years old with me. We all connect on so many different levels with MC. I don't know how many other artists fans can say that. Just wanted to show you guys all some love. Baby, you are an awesome lamb too by the way, and of course Shelly.

Eyebrows (50,358) by Mara from United States
I just wanted to chime in on this random topic. I too love Mariah with the fuller eyebrows. It gives her a very sexy exotic look only she can pull off with her beautiful nationalities. Someday video look is my fav, but I also absolutely love her look in The Roof video with the red jacket and jeans on. There is something about Mariah with darker brows and eye makeup, her look in this video always gave me a young Natalie Wood vibe. Also the Honey remix video is a good example as well.

RJJ12 prayer for MC (50,284) by Mara from United States
It's nice to see you back posting. I come here everyday although I don't post everyday, I do enjoy your posts. I am with Shelly and always do pray for MC. It's hard enough dealing with issues in your life, let alone doing it in the public eye where people feel the need to judge your every move and mistake. The pressure she must feel just by "being" Mariah Carey. I'd imagine it could make the strongest person crack. She seems very vulnerable right now and we all know how evil this industry is. Count me in, that's all for now.

Marissa (49,809) by Mara from United States
I think that is a great option for Mariah. She is such a talented songwriter. I know she has done this for a few people before. Someone like Sia comes to mind. She has written some of today's biggest hits, but I can definitely see MC doing the same if she was willing to part with her talent. It could be something she could do behind the scenes if she wanted to slow down in the future. On a side note, it's been very interesting reading everyone's thoughts lately. Nice to see how everyone really all in all want nothing but the best for our Mariah.

Someday (49,206) by Mara from United States
Hmm, I think if my memory serves me right, that Someday was a favorite song of Nick or her look in that video was, or something of that nature. Well, it also happens to be a non favorite of Mariah, hence her never performing it. But maybe now as karma should have it, she will perform it taking on a new meaning.
