About Tijl from Belgium: Enchanted by Mariah ever since 'Butterfly' dem Gucci heels in the pool!!!

Bye bye Stella? (79,177) by Tijl from Belgium
The internet is buzzing with rumours on Stella not longer being Mariah's manager. The Christmas season does seem to start in November.

Re: Glitter OST (79,074) (79,075) by Tijl from Belgium
I love the Glitter album. A favorite up there with Butterfly and Emancipation. It's a shame it was such a flop. The movie was not good although I do watch it ocasssionally just because Mariah is in it. I often wonder what could have happened if the project was reduced to the level of a 12 year old audience. There was a lot of potential. The soundtrack radiates fun, freedom and her voice is on point. That note in LTW is unparalleled and I loved her version of LNADSML.

Mariahisms (78,873) by Tijl from Belgium
Do you guys occassionally happen to use some of Mimi's catchphrases in your daily lives? I have caught myself having quite some "moments" which sometimes are "freakin' bleak-o-city". What about you?

Re: Rainbow tour live in Los Angeles (78,796) (78,819) by Tijl from Belgium
The first time I saw Mariah live in concert was on the first date of the Rainbow tour in Antwerp on February 14th 1999. (God, I am getting old.) I was very very excited to see my idol live for the very first time. Unfortunately it was a bit of a mess to be honoust. But because of my excitement and unbiased age I enjoyed every minute. She was late, about two hours late and the show schlepd on forever. The dress changes took forever and I had to leave early to make it home on time (public transport doesn't care for Mimi's schedule) so I missed the performance of Honey which remains an all time favorite. Years later I attended the Charmbracelet tour in Rotterdam. That show was bloody amazing. A shame it was never released on dvd.

Hopefully a new team indeed. I just read : "Instead of creating new music Mariah Carey will link her name to even more licensed products nobody really cares about."

Re: Why was Mariah on stage? (78,421) (78,426) by Tijl from Belgium
Dear Andrew, I know you are supossedly the accidental queen of shade on this board, but right now I do stand up with you... and we all should. Our lady is being honoured - matter of fact this award does mean a lot - and she could not care less. I became a genuine and obsessed fan only because of the Butterfly album. I never really cared about MC before her transformation to be honest. This was the best opportunity to find redemption after the new year's eve debacle but yet again we get... Well we didn't get anything. I am trying to find the exact definition because this wasn't a performance whatsoever.
Do you lot remember when Mimi performed SIO and WBT at the MTV awards in Miami? You do because that was an epic moment. Last night was the next degree of seperation from the fans and from her legacy as a great artist. Can we keep on blaming Stella? I don't think so.

Paper magazine covers (78,036) by Tijl from Belgium
The battle of the cover girls. The Songbird Supreme versus someone I don't know. The version with Mariah is by far the better one. Less is more.

Re: Is there any soso track on MIAMTEC? (77,983) (78,000) by Tijl from Belgium
In all honestly, I anxiously anticipated this album's release as it had been postponed endlessly. It did take several sessions before it struck me how fantastic this album actually is. Mariah is at her best when she is telling stories. #Beautiful, Faded, You Don't Know and You're Mine remain great songs. I did miss Triumphant and Almost Home on the album as I would have preferred them to the remixed versions from "Memoirs" and I could have lived without Supernatural. Never really cared for it despite the cuteness of Roc and Roe's babbling. I just don't think of it as a great song.

Biography (77,632) by Tijl from Belgium
Wouldn't it be great if Mariah dropped the smoke and mirrors and co-wrote her life story? So much of her life has been discussed in the media with nobody knowing the truth. It might redeem her as the true star she once was if the public got an insight in her struggle to the top, the difficulties of her childhood and the bleak reality of being a young woman in showbusiness fighting for her creative and personal freedom. She is at the perfect age for such a publication if taken on by a professional team. Nothing demands more respect than acknowledging one's mistakes in life and coming out with the honest truth. It would be the perfect tool to accompany a final comeback. Unfortunately with the current team the book will most likely be written by Mishka.

Twenty years later it still sounds as refreshing as the morning dew on the petals of a sunflower. My all time favorite. Forever and ever.

Re: Being controlled by a sociopath? (76,496) (76,503) by Tijl from Belgium
Honestly you might not be far from the truth. Mariah is a very emotional and fragile human being which makes her the perfect victim for leeches and sociopaths to crave on her energy, her connections and her wealth. Personally I do not think she is a narcissist herself be what is called a "codependent" personality. A psychological term that reffers to people who get easily attracted by narcissists and sociopaths. Codependents are often creative and emotional people but suffer from low self-esteem and often feel unworthy in comparison to others. Early on in her career Mariah stated that as a child "being famous" would validate her existence. Add the very tumultuous childhood as a biracial child in the '70s combined with her insecurities as a young woman and the bigger picture falls into place. Her biggest challenge is to stand up to these vampiric creatures but unfortunately she is blinded by their typical demeanour of pretending to be confidants and protectors. Sociopaths do not care for anybody but themselves and will isolate their victims from their natural surroundings and friends or family. (Bye bye to the old team and let's move to LA? Anybody.) They will further nurture the insecurities of the victim so eventually that person will give over and become completely depended on the sociopath. The end result is horrifying as the victim will be squeezed from all purity and energy until completely drained and left behind. Mariah is at a very dangerous stage in her life from which a return is almost impossible because she will not allow anything bad being said about Stella. This further distances her from anybody who wants to save her.
For anybody questioning my rather extensive reply. Trust me. I am not making anything up. I have unfortunately been in a relationship with a sociopath and decided to leave on time. But the damage takes a long time to heal. I really hope Mariah can escape from this. Tommy might have been too controlling but Stella is utterly demonic.

Re: Glitter era vs now (76,437) (76,467) by Tijl from Belgium
The saga and the drama of the Glitter era was about an enormously succesful popstar facing the reality of being a human being. This "era" is about a delusional diva not facing reality at all.

The lack of style (76,128) by Tijl from Belgium
Mimi's current fashion choices just scream middle-aged woman in denial. Her looks are ugly, tacky and unworthy for somebody with her status, as a legendary popstar and a mother. To define them as "trailer trash chic" would be an understatement. Even her stage outfits always turn out be from the latest porn collections. What is the problem with finding a proper stylist who has the right connections? The answer: Mariah has burned so many bridges over the years. With people in the music business and in the fashion world, I really doubt if there is one major fashion designer nowadays who would agree to endorse Mariah. Her creative approach to the clothes she borrowes from designer labels is not just an urban legend. Mariah is well known for demanding the stylists on the set of photoshoots to simply "shorten" (read: cutting off 10 inches or more with a pair of scissors) outrageously expensive haute couture that needs to be returned at the end of the day. If there ever will be a comeback it has to be a reinvention of her as a songstress and with a new image. She is beautiful and she can truly radiate stardom but she has to face the facts. Céline Dion at the Billboard Awards was a great styling job. Her gown was absolutely fabulous, very high fashion with her makeup and hair on point. I would love to see Mariah with a feisty stylish bob. At a certain age very long tresses are just a no-go for every woman. Stage outfits from Ralph&Russo, Balmain or Tom Ford that screams sophistication and class yet is sexy. With simple outfits during the day. The styling during the AI era was bang on and she looked freakin' gorgeous all through the episodes. What do you guys think? Is she in denial or is just nobody telling her the truth?

Re: Article: Mariah Carey on a shopping spree in Beverly Hills (76,119) (76,125) by Tijl from Belgium
I guess it's more about living up to her diva persona than not being able to walk in/on her heels. Stiletto moments dahling.

Re: Why a beauty shop? (75,788) (75,829) by Tijl from Belgium
Unfortunately it will become a shortlived experience. Mariah unfortunately has no credibility when it comes to fashion and beauty. Yes, there have been the collections with MAC and the perfumes are selling well (in the US that is). However she is hardly ever mentioned as a style icon because she isn't one. Her heyday as a potential fashionista ran in the 90's during the Butterfly era. Remember the Gucci ensembles? These days her look has become tacky and cheap. It takes a lot more than a good idea to build a succesful business outside of her own domain. Victoria Beckham has been a huge icon of fashion for years and yet her London store still makes no profit. Go figure. Mimi should stick to making great music. The end.

All I want this Christmas (75,337) by Tijl from Belgium
Will a dvd of the Sweet Sweet Fantasy tour ever see the light of day? There must be tons of usefull footage that ended up on the cutting room floor while they created the atrocious Mariah's World. Miss Orloff or whatever your name is, get to work as a proper manager of this legendary songbird and give the fans something that can be cherished. A professional and properly edited registration of the last tour in the style of the Adventures of Mimi. Something to enjoy while we await new music. Am I asking for the moon and the stars here? Not really.

Re: Songs that you love that aren't fan favorites (75,089) (75,150) by Tijl from Belgium
Definitely:
- Triumphant and the dance remixes (Pulled me through a rather difficult period.)
- Almost Home (A shame the movie was a bit of a flop as it had an effect on the success of the song.)
- Sweetheart (Wonderful memories of that time when I was still in college. I kept asking for this to be played in the bar where my posse and I used to hang out. The owner almost got a warrant against my song requests. Still love it today. She never looked better.)
- I still believe (Especially because of the epic video. Mariah in those days truly was a combination of killer looks with an angelic voice. Nice tribute to Marilyn and she does look bloody fantastic in this video. I don't mind the hot soldiers either.)

Re: Sleeping on matresses with 5 girls? (74,682) (74,689) by Tijl from Belgium
Honestly, I am trying to understand what you are referring to in your post. Which lies are you trying to point out exactly? It is a known fact that Mariah grew up in poverty travelling around with her mother and after moving to NYC she shared a flat (of some sort) with five girls and a cat. This has been mentioned in several interviews with Mariah and has been acknowledged many times over by her mother, Brenda K. Star and that blond Swedish friend who in those early days lived with Mariah. If there is one popstar that made false statements about growing up in poverty in order to create an "American dream" status it would concern a certain girl from the block. But we don't know her.

Scientology (74,563) by Tijl from Belgium
The article on the business breakup between Packer and Ratner sheds new light on the end of the romance. With Tommy Davis as JP's wingman the outcome for Mariah could have been a lot more dramatic than it turned to be. Scientology is not to be messed with and as the wealthy woman she is, Mariah was an ideal victim. Unfortunately she joined a Russian cult. To be continued...

Re: Celine vs Mariah (73,713) (73,741) by Tijl from Belgium
Mimi L., I am glad you found my comment amusing as it intended to be. "The sinking boat song" is indeed world famous but beyond shmaltz and has caused diabetes with many people across the globe. I do respect Céline Dion enormously as an artist and as a vocalist but she has much better songs, especially her French albums do agree with me. She is not a songwriter though.

Re: Wasted songs, should have been singles (73,717) (73,740) by Tijl from Belgium
There has been a lot of potential send straight to the bin over the last years. I believe "Meteorite" could have been a hit if accompanied by a great video and a pow club remix. Could have been a banger attracting new Mimionados. Should have opened MIAMTEC as well. I love "Cry" but I don't feel the potential to hit the charts. People these days do not care for reflection or insightful songs. Contemporary music has become very shallow and uninspired. Mariah is one of a dying species.

Re: Celine vs Mariah (73,699) (73,710) by Tijl from Belgium
I can only agree. Céline is a very talented vocalist but her songs do not evoke any emotion with me. Mariah wrote "The roof", "Petals", "The art of letting go". Céline sung about a sinking ship, just saying. No tea to spill though.
