There is only joy in anything because it reminds us of the sadness within the absence of it. That is to say: better to have loved and lost, etc. Better to have courage to see the positives, than resolve yourself to darkness. It reminds me of a poem I wrote *cough* (of which Randy likes the title... but interestingly not the actual poem): ALL THE AVAILABLE LIGHT I remember when striken the thunderbolt that it's stormier still in the night - and though flashes of brilliance are fleeting, to paint all the available light. Every song released and makes it unto the charts is up tempo or mid tempo. You would think with the right promotion and airplay, Miss You Most could easily be a top 10 hit each year. What is wrong with Mariah? (103,734) by Brandon from USA Just because you are tired doesn't mean [you] give a lazy performance to people who have paid money to see [you]. It's not as if she was in the midst of a long tour and made a special effort to perform at this wedding. Her last performance was months ago. Beyoncé just came off of a 50+ date tour in stadiums with an almost 3 hour high energy show and gave it every night. I'm sure there were nights when she didn't feel like it but still gave her all. We shouldn't blame jet lag because she should have gotten there early enough to get some rest and be prepared, knowing how long it takes to get over there. I'm confused as to why some fans lower to bar to the ground for Mariah when she is capable of so much more. She's only 54 and still young and beautiful in my eyes. She's not some frail old woman. She just doesn't try much anymore which is frustrating. I hope she's able to muster up some energy and vocal stamina to get through this Christmas tour. (Friday 13 October 2023; 16:01)

No. While the O.D.B remix was more popular, I've always preferred her solo version. There are better songs on Daydream than "Fantasy" and "One Sweet Day", way better. I won't tell you "copycat my ass" because that would be inappropriate to say on this board, but "Underneath the Stars" is far better than OSD, just to name one. (Wednesday 19 July 2023; 19:07)

That sounds a bit harsh and offensive towards her right as woman to dress as she pleases. Especially now in 2023. I would rather see her happy (as in Honey video in racy clothes) then covered up to her neck, looking miserable. I am a lamb since 1990 but I prefer her work from Butterfly era until now. Emotionally stiff (103,022) by Andrew from the UK I believe Music Box was savaged by critics because they just didn't like Mariah: young girl marries the much older, much less attractive, boss of the record company. For love? There's no way to know other than to go off Mariah's representations but given that she is a very unreliable witness/narrator, to say the least, it's dubious. It seemed, to many, like a shrewd calculated move by a conceited climber, so to speak. And the critics went off her. She responded with Daydream and she sat at the Grammy's next to Tommy Mottola looking like a spare at a wedding. What was going through her mind on that night, I wonder? Whatever was going through her mind when she married Tommy, whether for her career or for love, it was a gobsmackingly stupid thing to do for a whole host of reasons that I don't just see in hindsight - I saw them back then as I am sure many here did. But Music Box is a masterpiece of power balladry and bubblegum pop and should stop being disparaged by everyone just because they think it's cool to do so. Admittedly, there is infinitely more nuance to the vocal performance on Daydream, but, c'mon, you aren't really going to claim that Mariah would not have sung Daydream just like Music Box had the pipes not started, er, overheating - which I think must have been the reason Mariah took her clothes off in 1997 and not put them back on since: to cool down. It just made matters even worse, because critics and many fans alike never really forgave the sudden emergence of Long Island Barbie. It's frustrating to think of what could have been had she made different choices. I don't think Mariah as naive as people make out she was. She took several gambles and they backfired. So yes, Music Box was pop-crafted power schmaltz balladry but Whitney did exactly the same and critics loved her. (Tuesday 18 July 2023; 13:58)

Haters & Lambs (102,706) by Zachariah from Croatia I am definitely a lamb, since the age of 10 (1990), all the way today and listening Lovers & Friends performance, I have to say that I think she can still sing, very well, but her problem is her shape - out of breathiness. I go from myself - soon to be 43, not old, but not young either, normal looking body (no belly or floppy muscles), trying to keep my weight in order but I don't run, don´t walk a lot and going up and down the stairs couple of times a bit faster - I am out of breath. I sing for my own pleasure and I noticed I have to really push harder to hold my notes and choruses. We all know Mariah doesn't radiates athletics vibe and I think it is taking its toll.
