Re: If septic tanks could sing (89,643) (89,658) by Tijl from Belgium
Andrew, you are so right. This must Madonna's "Glitter moment". A major end to a big career. It was atrocious and very sad.

Butterfly album in 1997. Hooked for weeks. Still feel the same emotions from back then when I hear "The Roof".

Re: New start (89,604) (89,612) by Tijl from Belgium
My first memory was "Without You" which was a huge hit in Europe. That voice, that voice, that voice.

Re: Please respect Madonna, avoid sexist comments (89,550) (89,558) by Tijl from Belgium
You do have a point there but that is the way the world turns. It always has and always will. Maybe nowadays more than ever. One can be angry about but it is not going to change.

Re: Her thing is different (89,542) (89,543) by Tijl from Belgium
The Butterfly era was very much on point. To me it is still her most poignant and profound album up to date. She looked fabulous, sexy yet classy. She was the pinnacle of the zeitgeist in those days. And the "Honey" video is still my all time favourite. Or perhaps my second favourite after "The Roof".

Re: State of her voice (89,501) (89,527) by Tijl from Belgium
Well said. My best friend used to work as a tenor and he performed at the major European opera houses. He told me that throughout his entire career he never used alcohol, didn't smoke and hardly ever hit the town. Preserving one's voice requires a lot of discipline and vocal hygiene. Mariah has been on the bender ever since she left Mottola. This in combination with extensive travelling, doing interviews for hours in a row and not taking the proper amount of rest is a recipe for vocal decline. Of course, a career as an opera singer requires much less PR activities and public exposure than the life of an international superstar.

Re: Madonna's BBMA performance (89,524) (89,526) by Tijl from Belgium
That dress was indeed an atrocity and she doesn't need that kind of outfit to look sexy. The BBMA ensemble was pure perfection.

Re: BBMAs 2019 (89,473) (89,474) by Tijl from Belgium
I agree. However I found Madonna's performance absolutely vulgar. I am so fed up with the S&M and religious references. She has played that card for way too long. If you take away all the dancers, the holographic crap and the sleazy dancing all you get is a very mediocre singer. Mariah looked absolutely classy (and yes, her sartorial choices aren't always the best) and she owned the stage and the room with every person in it. Madonna nagging on Twitter about how she should have received the Icon Award shows her true character. I never liked her as a person, once respected her as a pop star but the differences with a true iconic star like Mariah were never more blatant than on that evening. Noticed how Maluma looked at Mariah? Poor guy had to sing with the old bat lol.

This the best link for now. NBC takes down a lot of content.

Goosebumps (89,431) by Tijl from Belgium
That BBMA speech gave me the chills. I have watched it over ten times so far yet every time it gets to me. Very, very proud of MC. Madonna was laying on the stage, Mariah owned it.

That would indeed be an iconic performance. Okay, who has Tanaka's number?

I like the performance at the MTV Movie Awards in 2005. That was a great look on her.

Billboard Award (89,105) by Tijl from Belgium
I am very glad that Mariah will receive the Icon Award at the upcoming Billboard Awards. The recognition that is beyond due.

Hello Randy. How do You feel about TAOLG? I always found great inspiration within this song's lyrics. Perhaps not as uplifting as the ones you mentioned but nevertheless with an empowering message.

Bill, I do agree that "Obsessed" messes with the flow of the album but I liked how feisty MC was by directly shading M&Ms.

MOAIA (88,897) by Tijl from Belgium
I just rediscovered the "Memoirs" album today after a long time of not giving it any attention. "Obsessed" remains fun and I will always love the video, it's just so tongue-in-cheeck. Furthermore Standing O, H.A.T.E.U. (especially the Jump Smokers remix) and Up Out My Face contain great lyric mastery from MC.

Your story is heartbreaking. Life is very strange that way; to give you a beautiful experience followed by sadness. Bless you.

What I don't understand why would a parent let their children engage in a friendship with an adult man and let them sleep in the same bedroom?

The witch is death (88,385) by Tijl from Belgium
Stella is now called "Stella Stolper" and will get her arse kicked in court. All claims previously directed at Mariah seem to be Stella's product of misconduct. If you treat people cheap the bill will be double.

Disappointing. She looks freakin' incredible but this is the result of a four day shoot? Or should we be expecting some surprises the coming days?

Shake It Off got beaten to the #1 spot because We Belong Together was still in that position.

Re: Mariah / Super Bowl (87,938) (87,948) by Tijl from Belgium
"She needs to wear pants, lower shoes to be able to move around the stage freely and without hand holding, and have massive Diva's Live hair circa 1998."

Do you want to see Mariah at the Super Bowl or somebody imitating her? Mariah is the queen diva and that is how she will present herself. Don't people realize she is just playing up to that image and not even taking it that seriously herself?

Caution tour (87,880) by Tijl from Belgium
It seems the Caution tour wil get a European leg. A first date in Paris was announced yesterday. Hopefully more dates will be confirmed shortly.
