WQHT (97.1 FM) adopted a temporary pay-for-play policy yesterday, spinning Notorious B.I.G. songs in return for pledges to the Christopher Wallace Foundation set up by Biggie's mother.
Mariah Carey and Jay-Z were among those who called Angie Martinez on the morning show to buy Biggie spins. In the first two hours, she raised more than $40,000. Meanwhile, on rival WWPR (105.1 FM), morning host Star marked the eighth anniversary of Biggie's death by having a long chat with Faith Evans, Biggie's wife. (New York Daily News)
