"I am free"

"[Sings]: I am free. [Laugh]. Holler." This is what Mariah says in her latest voice message, left on her official website. Although it's only eleven seconds long, it holds a deep meaning. Mariah seems extremely happy in the message and perhaps she is speaking of being "free" from her ex-record label, Columbia Records, a division of Sony Music Entertainment. It is widely known that Columbia Records wasn't doing their job with promoting Mariah and her music. They refused to give permission for radio stations to play "Can't Take That Away" and Mariah had to fight for a commercial release for the inspirational ballad. Due to a lack of promotion and resistance from Sony with radio, the single turned out to be Mariah's least successful single ever, although the song itself may be one of her best ever.
